Business Networking Event for October

Safety is Everyone’s Business: October is WorkSafe Month and our guest speaker is Workplace Psychosocial Risk Management consultant Fiona McCarthy.

Fiona will cover some of the latest safety topics, now or soon to be sitting in WHS law in Tasmania including Gender Diversity and Discrimination, and Industrial Manslaughter.

Open to members and non-members, our events are a chance to connect with people in the Greater Hobart area, discuss local issues, share advice, and offer support. Drinks and nibbles are provided


Collins Street Bike Lane Update

Whilst we have not had a formal response to the petition (lodged 24 June with 2231 signatures), the proposed changes to Collins St have now been approved by council 7 votes to 5. A few issues that we lobbied for that ended up being successful were:

  • Reduce the number of car space lost (now 49, originally 59).
  • Leaving Victoria Street around Centrepoint one-way
  • More accessible parking options

Significant Rate Hikes for Hobart

The Hobart City Council received an independent report in April saying their financial strategy and governance had “significant gaps” and were “not fit for purpose”. The report stated this could lead to significant rate hikes. I believe it is time for the council to start staying in their lane…….

Q4 2024 Productivity Program

Anna Stover Consulting have launched their Q4 2024 Productivity Program. Comprising 12 individual online highly focused coaching and support sessions of 30 minutes per session. CGHB Members receive a 5% discount to this program.


Enabling Business Grant Program

Enabling Business Grant Program opens 22nd October. It aims to support Tasmanian businesses to grow, adapt and innovate by providing grants of between $2,500 and $10,000 for capital purchases.
