The Tasmanian Government has officially handed down its 2023-24 state budget. This budget is later than normal due to the State Election held earlier in the year.
What’s in the budget for a small business?
- $1 million for businesses to access grants up to $10 000 for small capital purchases.
- Single-form tendering for all tenders under $250,000, saving small business owners time and money.
- $400,000 over the next two years for multicultural small businesses with grants of up to $5,000 available to support enterprises by building capability and helping with new skills.
- Regional Chambers of Commerce will receive $400,000 over the next four years to enable members to consult about delivering the Small Business Growth Strategy and developing the next iteration of that Strategy.
- The Tasmanian Small Business Council (TSBC) will continue to receive $65,000 annually from the government to enable it to provide a range of fundamental services to Tasmanian businesses.
- The Business Tasmania Service that provides access to interpretative services if English is not a first language will receive $80,000 over four years.
